New gaming build

    Hello,

After a successful build 9 years ago with the help of this forum I return asking for your help once again.

This build will be for my 14 year old son for gaming (Fortnite, Minecraft, Asseto Corsa, COD, any other online titles)

    He sometimes records himself playing.

Starting from scratch, I will use the previous build for myself.

What's the place to buy from online now?

We will probably need at least 3 SSD's (1 system, 2 game files, 3 storage) so need a PSU capable of handling that (he got a Corsair RM850e last Christmas as an upgrade to power a GTX970 and it can power 3 SSD's max)

Case size we can go all out, he has tons of space, Id rather get larger than smaller and have a limited choice of GPU's

He said he wants a steady 200 FPS on Fortnite as it goes up and down now, he also needs to drop the graphics to low on most games.

    1. What is your budget? [€1500 max]

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? [Gaming/Video Capture/Internet]

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? [Yes - cheap key from ebay ]

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? [No - PC will be repurposed]

    5. Do you need a monitor? [2 screens would be great- happy to buy second hand - he has an Alienware 144Hz 27 inch now]

5a. If yes, what size do you need. [27 and up]

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? [don't think so - he has a gaming mouse, keyboard, headphones]

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? [No]

    8. How can you pay? [cash, card]

    9. When are you purchasing? [can wait if there are deals to be had]

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? [no help needed]

    Thank you for any help!

Hang on for a few days. New AMD CPUs coming next week and they always shift prices down the stack when they hit.

While waiting, why the 3 SSDs? They don't seem to be migrating over. Most tend to just dump everything on the one 2TB SSD these days. You might drill down on the use case here. That all said, don't be worried about power. I'd suspect that RM850e was a little overkill for that system.

When I built this PC I had a 120 GB SSD for the system and then a 500 GB HDD, over time added another SSD so it's just a thing of "more is better". No real reason so I've no problem going with 1 SSD instead.

I bought the RM850e as it was an Amazon deal at the time

Just for your information AMD has pushed back its launch by 2 weeks . They discovered issues with the CPUs and pulled back all stock to test them . I think the 8th of august will be the launch for the 9600 and 9700 . The 15th of august for the rest . That said current gen should be dropping in price today in anticipation of the launch of the new CPUs .

I had some time today to play around with the PCpartPicker and Amazon, this is what I potentially picked out:

    AMD Ryzen 5 7600X (E213.93)

MSI B650 Gaming Plus WIFI, ATX (E179.69)

Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE (E45.52)

    Crucial Pro DDR5 32 GB Kit 6000MHz CL36 (E115.02)

    WD Black SN770 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD (E71.88)

    Corsair 4000D AIRFLOW (E106.64)

    Corsair RM850e (E146.04)

    Total E884.69

Does this sound compatible and capable for gaming needs?

I don't know what video card to choose, there are 4 thousand compatible with this build on PcPartPicker so would really appreciate a suggestion.

I'm leaning towards a XFX SPEEDSTER SWFT 319 RAD RX6800 16GB GAM at E415 as that's what I've found on Amazon

    Thanks

If you're not OC'ing what's that 6000MHz modules for? Stick to 5200's and if you want to keep up the bill increase capacity:
