Power to Garden Shed Query

    Hello

I am just after some quick advice.

I am in the process of arranging to a have a power cable installed to do a run to a garden shed which will power lights, sockets and radiator plus usual electrical appliances like laptop and TV.

The plan was to run a supply from the MCB in the hall to the shed but due to the awkward location and limited access to the MCB and not wanting to uproot everything, it was recommended instead that a spur from the attached which is located next to the electricity metre would be the better choice and give an easier run.

As I have next to zero knowledge in this arena, I just want to get a second opinion to confirm if this approach is ok or is it likely to cause issues?

You can't put lights and sockets on the same circuit for a start.

You'll need to get whatever work you get done tested and certified. Otherwise your house insurance for example may not be valid if you've an issue.

What is the MCB feeding ? Not very common

Thanks, just to confirm that the shed has a separate MCB with main switch, surge protection and separate switches for the sockets and lights. It was wired and certified when built but not connected to the power supply.

I now want to connect the shed to the power supply from the house.

Open to correction but I believe that the box pictured above supplies the power to the main MCB for the house located on the other side of the hall.

I can provide a full picture of the unit if it's helpful.

Looks like a main MCB ?

Shed supply should connect to main board not main mcb

Correct, that's the main feed into the house.

You get some branching off a main MCB but they're not designed for that and doesn't comply with wiring rules

Main MCB> Tails> Main board > Circuits is the sequence
