I'm prety sure there is a thread on this somewhere but the search doesn't bring one up.

A blood and sandals series staring Anthony Hopkins and mostly directed by Roland Emmerich so you know what to expect from those two.

Dropped today and watched the first two episodes so far it does what it sets out to do just and that's entertain with lots of over acting, sex and death and green screen.

I'm hoping to catch an episode of it tonight, I had mentioned it on the Amazon Prime thread I think but no dedicated thread for it before now. Cheers.

I might give it a go but after reading numerous reviews my expectations are very, very low.

Just in case you're interested, this was mentioned in the general Amazon discussion thread, and also in the Gladiator 2 thread.

Binged this all over the weekend.

I was disappointed initially that it has a major element of soap opera to it rather than feeling real or grounded. It's most definitely not the HBO Rome.

But once I got into it, I really enjoyed it. There's some great scenes, the costumes and sets are good, and it's just rarely boring, though some of the CGI is suspect at times.

Despite the soap opera feel, it's got quite a lot of violence/nudity/profanity, not entirely dissimilar to Spartacus in that sense.

Overall I wouldn't disagree with the mid reviews, but it's still very much worth watching if you find Ancient Rome interesting.

Watched the first 4 episodes. Its nonsense but enjoyable nonsense. Although as the above poster mentioned, the CGI is a bit dodgy at times

Watched the first two episodes. It's ok, enjoyable enough nonsense, but far too much green screen.

    Watched 1st episode last night.

Won't be going any further. Terrible acting, terrible dialogue, and has a generally tacky feel about it.

Style over substance. There's too much content out there to persevere with rubbish.
