Is there anyone in the retained fire service who also gets the jobseekers benefit?

I'm currently self employed and have been for 5 yrs but I'm considering jacking my self employment and going on the social.

I know retained firefighters are entitled to jobseekers benefit but will I definitely have to deregister as self employed also.

    Any advice is welcome,thanks.

Ok so I'm now on benefit payments and retained firefighter but have recently been offered contract work maybe 2 or 3 days a month.i would have to pay tax on this myself.

Would the days I work get taken off my benefit payments or can this even be done?
