    Hi All,

Wondered if anyone would have any ideas for my 16y old son for some career guidance counsellor? He had a stroke as a baby and has pretty severe language difficulties. He's happy in school but they're very small, not a lot of choice for subjects going from transition and after v bad DATS scores and 0% in AF3 Maths aptitude we had an Educational Psychologist review who said try to get career guidance for him/ 'grind school' for Leaving Cert since he's average IQ but struggles with language.

Has anyone heard of a career guidance who has experience with teens with learning difficulties? Or a grind school who take 5th years with study difficulties at all?

I know I'm asking for the moon, but any help would be grt!

    Tx

    Hi there,

My son was in a similar situation doing his leaving cert last year and was referred to a private guidance counsellor in Dublin who provided online guidance sessions. I think she also facilitated house calls to students who needed the in-person support. We found the sessions very helpful as they helped my son to better understand his learning needs and what he was realistically capable of achieving. All worked out in the end and he progressed to a PLC level 5 course, with plans to study at university next year. This is her website here if you want to get in contact www.findyourpath.ie

Hope this helps! It did for my son,

    Ross
