    Hi all,

A few months ago there was a review of the new BMW 530e in another thread. The reviewer said that there were going to be no diesel versions of the new saloon sold in Ireland or the UK but that they were in fact going to do the diesels in the Touring. Is there any sign of this happening? Currently have a G31 touring 520d and really am not ready to go electric. Anybody with inside knowledge?!

    Thanks

apparently BMW UK/Ireland changed their mind and no diesel models coming here at all now.
The new X3 which is similar price is coming as diesel though.

That's a pity. I think there's another few years left in diesel engines until we get a proper and usable EV infrastructure in Ireland.

Just doesn’t make much sense with our punitive VRT system

estate looks alot better than saloon - saloon is one bad design - doesnt look as bad in black and m sport

The new 5 series is in line with the latest BMW designs, ie horrendous. Compared to the classy shape of the G30, the latest model is over designed and proportions are all over the place. If I was buying a new beamer these days it would be the 3 series.

Yes I had heard from the head of BMW Ireland direct that they were bringing in the diesel tourings. They are still making them, and making them in RHD too, for other markets, just not for UK (and Ireland is an extension of the UK for most car related stuff). Seems like they changed their mind
