New PHEV version reviewed here. Lots of space, dubious looking rear end and a hefty price tag for a Hyundai at €70K…

I saw one in the wild last weekend, looked well in Orange, a massive beast of a thing.

Might have been the same one I saw. Can't remember where but it came into a carpark and it was big and eye catching enough that I made a point in checking what it was, could have been the press loaner.

Has anyone test drove these yet. And any idea when they will be available to drive away?

EP Mooney have posted customers picking them up on socials for the last few weeks.

Horrific looking thing, the rear reminds me of a Mitsubishi Space Wagon.

The JLR “inspiration” is shameless in certain areas eg steering wheel, but overall I think it’s pretty good. The arse is terrible though and really leaves it down, it’s as if it sunk.

Rear axle also looks too far forward in terms of proportion. Might be better in the flesh.

Not seeing that..….but as @Oafley Jones posted above, the well documented comparison to Land Rover styling is much more obvious.

Just what Irish roads need, more oversized, obese lumps clogging them up because Karen & Ken need them for the arduous terrain of a local GAA/football club car park.

It’s funny how all things are relative. Saw my first one today in Orlando. Looked tiny compared to what was on either side of it. Still, can’t get round how that rear end got final approval.

Out curiosity, I just had a look at the dimensions vs the old model (which was just brutally bland and seemed to just cede the space to the Sorento) and crucially it is the same width; which is grand in Ireland.

Yeah I would agree with that. I think its the near vertical grill and rear gives it the sense that its bigger than it actually is.

I wonder if a cheaper base version will be introduced. At €67K, I cant see them selling these at volume, especially as the Santa Fe in the past was priced from €55K, so its a big jump.

New Santa Fe PHEV got a good review today in the Sunday Independent. I’ve never really seen the point of a PHEV instead of a full EV but options are still scant for large 7 seat EV’s like this.

Decent 7 seater EV's are few and far between, looking at the Sorento PHEV with ~ 60km EV range around the €40k mark. Would cover our daily needs pretty well.
