hello all, is it worth buying a house in the new phase of Kilcarbery Grange, Clondalkin for rental purposes? The prices are cheapest compared to new developments in Dublin, is it because of public private partnership? There is a social housing estate just behind where the new houses will be and KG will itself have 40% social. Not sure if renting out will be an issue because of this.

There are people renting out sheds and cupboards under the stairs, I think you'll be fine…

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.

I live in the area, renting out a 2 bed since March. To be honest, the apartment itself is nice, but we can’t wait to move out. We’ve had a host of issues with the building and neighbours. I was initially reluctant to blame the high social housing percentage but I think that’s a big factor. Along with having no amenities in the area for such a large population. And it’s not like rent is cheap here.

Social housing is the reason I would be hesitant to buy any new build in west Dublin. Buying in an older area where you know who's there already. All those new estates between Lucan and Clondalkin should be great places to live but you know they'll dump loads of social housing there and ruin it
