Deadly drugs and drug testing clinics

I came across the story of the 25yr old woman who tragically overdosed after taking fake Valium tablets. There have been similar deaths and most likely due to them being laced with nitazenes (a deadly opioids).

It's obvious "just say no" doesn't work with kids and adults. Perhaps instead of the government burying their head in the sand, they could decriminalize as well as introduce drug testing facilities like those found in the Netherlands and Switzerland. I know a similar thing was supposed to happen at Electric Picnic but was called of for some reason.

    Free needles work

Dunno about this drug testing at festivals seems like window dressing

Not sure how free needles would prevent overdoses.

Drug testing is crucial to know what's actually in street drugs that people buy. I'm not sure why Ireland is so backwards on this. Hell, even the UK government that is pretty anti-drug has at least allowed it (Wedinos)

Absolutely, if they want to actually save lives education and harm reduction is the way forward

The blind paternalistic “just say no” moralism solves nothing and leads to more deaths

They're a great idea. But I think they're too good an idea.

If it becomes clear that people knowing what drugs they're taking makes it safer for the user (whether it's speed or MDMA, how strong it is etc) then the obvious conclusion is thst legalising and regulating drugs is also safer.

Alcohol offers a good analogy. If alcohol is illegal then it gets more concentrated because its dangerous to transport, liable to be cut with other things to make it go further shortly before sale, and is less likely to be clean and safe. Could be 60% or could be watered down to 20% by the time you get it. A few shots might get you drunk or could barely asked you tipsy.

So they regulate it, tell you how strong it is, give suggested measures so everyone knows the effect of a pint if 4% lager or a glass of 12% wine. Same logic applies to other drugs. Might he mice to have a bump of coke that would have the same level of effect as a shot of sambuca.

If you're deeply opposed to regulating drugs then you probably need to ensure drugs remain dangerous. Those testing clinics woukd probably lead people to using drugs safely to get the high they want.
