Haggling on private sales

    Lads,

    I'm looking at buying a 4x4, had a lad to look at it for me and all good.

    But it needs a full service according to the service sticker and also a full set of tyres and tracking.

    Valued at 20,000

    How much should I be haggling down the price?

    How long is a piece of string? It depends on how motivated they are to sell, if the car is overpriced, underpriced, how much your willing to lowball them etc

    Does the €20k include the service ~€400-€500 (if nothing wrong) and new tyres?

    It would help if you give the car make/model year, tyre size/make.

    Has the seller already factored in those issues? They may have a figure in mind for a deal. You won't know until you try. What's the car worth?

    Not included in the price, wasn't mentioned when I spoke to them.

    He's motivated to sell and hasn't had much interest.

    What's a ballpark figure for a set of decent tyres, fitted and tracked and a full 4x4 service?

    Decent 4 x 4 tyres, as in coopers or BF Goodrich, budget €7-800.
