Humax Freesat box problem

Hi John and colleagues,

I bought a Humax Freesat box (HDR 1100S 500GB) from yourselves back in Dec 2016 which has given great service but in the last week has been difficult to switch on from standby in the morning, unplugging it and leaving it off for a while would sort it.

Today wouldn't start from standby and now is completely dead. Would it be a power board gone in the unit and can these be repaired rather than buy a new one.

Thanks for the post. I am sorry to hear your Freesat box has failed. Unfortunately we do not fix these, we didn't even fix them when they were new they were just exchanged buy Humax in the warranty period.

If I remember correctly these came with a separate external power supply it might be worth getting it checked and see if it has failed, you may be able to pick up a universal one that would get you up and running again.

If all else fails we still have freesat boxes available, although they are no longer Humax branded and are available in 1 and 2tb versions

So at least you would also be gaining some additional storage space too

Hi Stephen,

The power supply to the back of the box seems quite a specific part so any ideas on where to source as it needs a transformer as well. Would this be a common fail on them.

Do you have any deals on these, maybe an open box item, I am using a Manhattan receiver in the meantime but need the recording function.

Hi Piaget.

You might need to try and source one via Ebay unfortunately.

You would need to make sure that it is the correct power supply as using a different one might cause issues if the amps/volts are not the same.

At the moment there are no Humax Freesat boxes.

Hi Kenny,

I got a replacement cable from Amazon today but the box seems to be dead, I thought I would get a bit longer out of it then I did. I only need the 500GB storage which is more than enough. Would you have an deals on these for a long term customer rather than me heading to Argos in Newry at the weekend.

The 1Tb is the smallest hard drive we do in these I'm afraid. We also have nothing to play with on the price so the £259 web price would be the best we can do. I could include free delivery if that helps?
