Does the Dept Social Welfare check with the business/organisation for the reason you leave your job when an application for job seekers allowance is made online? Is this how they can refuse payment for 9 weeks, because they've checked up? Tia

Its not a refusal, it's the rules re waiting time

Yes, it is checked via the real time pay roll entry. If you are made redundant, it is noted. If you simply leave, it is noted.

Thankfully this is automated and linked to your PPS number as otherwise you'd get complete abuse of the system with people leaving jobs on a whim and almost rewarded by a social welfare payment.

Wether the application for JSB/JSA is done online or by filling in forms, DSP "May" contact last employer to verify why a claimants employment ended.

On the point made about Real Time payroll data, this does not occur when applying initially for a Jobseekers payment, other than checking with revenue if the employment has ceased. Data shared with DSP is not in real time, it's monthly & besides Revenue have no information as to why employment ended. Redundancy payments are infact handled by DSP so they'll have that Data anyway.

Once an application for a Jobseekers payment is processed /approved it's only then a cross reference check is done monthly against a PPSN to see if a claimant is in receipt of taxable income whilst claiming a Jobseekers & indeed some other means tested SW payments.

Is maith an scáthán súil charad.
