    Okay,

So ive always drove 5 series in the past (3 e39's) up until my current motor. Switched to Skoda superb for the space as kids are a little in 2018. But now despite its reliability and hitting approx 290k on the clock my 2010 is having a few issues and its probably time to move on. Ive a budget of about 8grand but also have the superb to add to the deal. Always fancied an e class or would love to get back into a 5 series but am fairly open if the creature comforts are met (Auto, Leather, Bluetooth etc etc… ) and its as reliable as what ive been driving. Wife is trying to encourage me to get some kind of an SUV but I don't really mind… also unlike herself I look at previous owners/milage as a marker rather than age of a car.
Any advice on what's out there would be appreciated.

Realistically your only working with €10,000 between your trade in and the cash you have. So you’ll probably be looking at high mileage older examples, maybe up to 2012 or 2013. Nothing wrong with that but I wouldn’t expect the same level of reliability as you’ve gotten from your Skoda. Older luxury brand cars tend to cost quite a bit to maintain.

And then you have the issue of your trade in, that limits you to buying from dealers only which really limits your choice of cars. Unless you were willing to sell it privately

WIth your Budget you could end up with a more troublesome car than your current Skoda

With price of cars now and wanting to tread up in my eyes you need 20k at less might aswell stay what you have if you only have 8

You’d probably want to change the timing chain if theres no evidence of it being done already?

That is not a Luxury model, standard SE. As above proceed with caution, I think a diesel F10 would come as big disappointment after your E39's (assuming petrol). You are certainly not buying a more reliable car than the Skoda, and repairs and servicing won't be cheap.

What in the poverty spec is that, I assumed basics including heated seats would be standard on a 5 series? It will definitely be more luxurious than a superb but if going for higher class cars I'd get a better specced one.

Sure maintenance will be higher but not really by much in the total cost of motoring. At this price point I'd also stay away from dealers and go private otherwise a good 20% of budget will go towards garage costs rather than a better car.

Looking at those seats you can see the gap where it appears the bit behind your knees is fully adjustable, if that's the case it's not poverty spec in the slightest.

Im pretty sure this dealer has not listed properly what this car actually has.

I can see that and it is something that every BMW of that class that I have seen or been in has so would assume it's standard.

Sure is annoying when garages don't put up detailed spec of car and just throw in random sh1te about seatbelts, abs and adjustable seats…

Those are not standard seats so unless all the cars are M sport they are an extra

Agreed, they are an extra, my G30 doesn't have them and it is SE spec and it has adjustable heated seats so If the above seats have the front of them adjustable like that then they surely are heated aswell.

If that is an SE spec car it does have some sort of luxury pack I imagine

The seats are an option, as is the Fineline wood trim which is much nicer than the gloss black. But it is definitely not the Luxury model which had bigger wheels, widecsreen plus more.

Those are the upgraded sport seats on that car that were standard on the M Sport model. You can see the side bolsters and leg extenders. They are not heated though as the buttons usually next to the climate control knobs are missing, heated seats were still an option on that vintage F10.
