Nostalgic for retro press ads

Modern car press ads can be so tedious. Usually a hero image of a car trying to invoke some sort of emotion. Very little too excite or engage.

I miss the days when press ads were more copy heavy, you actually engaged with the advert and learnt something about the car.

I appreciate that now an advert simply directs you elsewhere for information, something that was not possible pre-Internet, but it made for far more interesting advertisements back then.

Feel free to share some retro add gems.

    Interesting thread.

I can recall some car advertisements that were little dramas in their own right. Particularly in magazines like Punch.

can anyone remember a rally type ad from the 70's ? it was either for gtx oil,Cibie spot lights or for ford escort, it had some great night video of a rally and some great rock guitar music over playing it. I tired looking on YT but couldnt find it, probably a British advert with one of those typical speak-over pieces for the time

A belief in gender identity involves a level of faith as there is nothing tangible to prove its existence which, as something divorced from the physical body, is similar to the idea of a soul. - Colette Colfer
