Now TV - PVR features now working properly

Possibly in anticipation of the launch of Sky Sports +, now about six weeks away, but Now TV’s pause and rewind live tv features now finally seem to work properly, it seemed to be hit and miss on Apple TV in the past but it’s working properly now and also working on iOS and LG webOS, at least.

You can rewind the live channel for up to two hours, and you don’t have to have been watching it like you would with a traditional PVR.

Possibly not one that will be useful to everyone but certainly a major help for me.

Yes noticed towards the last month or so in the Premier League games they had brought it in, it was badly needed across the board for live events.

I just tried Pause and Rewind on Sky News and other Sky entertainment channels and Sky Sports News on a Samsung TV app and on a LG TV app and a error symbol comes up on both in the top left-hand corner. Is the new feature only available on the Sports Membership?

You’re right, it only works on sports channels (both Sky Sports and Sports Extra). I just checked Sky Sports News and it worked fine though. (iOS platform). I do have a Sports membership though.

It doesn’t work on Entertainment, I can’t confirm Cinema as I don’t have that membership.

Some Entertainment shows do give you a “Watch from Start” prompt though.

Just spotted this on the Now help website https://help.nowtv.com/ie/article/what-features-are-available-on-now

"You can pause and rewind the live sports channels and Bonus Streams for up to 2 hours on all supported devices, except for:

    • LG TVs running WebOS 3.x and below
    • Samsung TVs from 2016 and earlier
    • Chromecast

You can also pause and rewind live entertainment and Sky Cinema channels for up to 30 minutes on NOW and Roku devices"

Which explains why my 2016 Samsung TV didn't have the feature

Looks like UHD/Dolby Atmos support will be launching under a supplemental Boost package in the near future.

Launched in the UK NowTV service this morning.

coming at the princely sum of £9 pm and restricted to particular devices, apparently.

I’m also led to believe that deal codes are less ten a penny in the UK than they are here (thank you Boards thread!)

    also…

In the UK, Boost now only gets you multiroom on two devices, with three devices now being an additional Ultra Boost feature.

In Ireland, it’s still three devices with Boost, as we don’t have Ultra Boost (yet).

It seems if you subscribed to Boost beforehand, you got upped to Ultra Boost at no extra cost and will retain the discounted price so long as you stay subbed.

Ultra Boost launched in Ireland today, only seems to be on some platforms though - appearing on my LG webOS tv but not my Apple TV.

Email from Now says that, as in the UK, existing Boost subscribers will be upped to Ultra Boost at no extra costs (as long as the pass is kept active). Boost will also get new subscribers only two devices instead of three from now on.

    Hello folks,

Apologies if this is not the correct thread. I have tried to find a specific one but this was closest.

Just looking for some opinions from those of you who are using NowTV. I am considering signing up to a sports package, thats my main interest, specifically PL and Rugby. They have a few offers on their page, and I am looking at the flexible contract. Never had a streaming package before so wondering how well this works. I have decent internet and will be updating TV shortly but probably good for now.

Basically I am just wondering how you find the service. I have read a few bits about lag etc. Im not that bothered by that. Itll likely just be myself using it, but is it fairly reliable for the games?

And for those of you who have cancelled, how did you find that process. Thats one bit that is causing me some concern. Read a multitude of negative reviews, all with cancellation and charging issues. Not sure I want that hassle. Any dealings with tech support, and how was it?

Any input would be much appreciated.

    TIA

It works well for me, at any rate, as long as you keep up the deals (see the thread on Bargain Alerts) it’s one of the cheapest ways of getting a Sky Sports or Sports Extra package and the only that doesn’t require you to take a basic sub (you can get the entertainment pass for dirt cheap - I’ve tended to pay €3 a month for it).

It is not a solution for those who want terrestrial channels like RTE, VMTV, BBC or Channel 4. You will need another service for those.

Cancellation…one thing it has over virtually everyone else is that it will let you cancel online (virtually everyone else requires you to ring) but you will be asked a thousand times (okay, maybe three or four) if you are sure. If you’re lucky you may be offered a deal.
