To call or not to Call (an election) early thread

    The argument to call one in early November are as follows

    1)The locals were good for FG/FF.

    2) SF are in meltdown

    3) the floating voter is going right to independents and they will support FG/FF

    4) interest rates are coming down

    5) Avoids several by elections as a result of the Euros

    6)Give away budget in Oct would still be in people's mind

    Arguments against

    1. FG need time to get new candidates ready given the exodus of TDs
    2. The locals are not an accurate guide to the GE
    3. The electorate are volatile and might not wish an early one
