Motor Tax Refund - No Tax Cert

I recently scrapped my car and didn't realise I needed to return the tax cert when submitting the form for refund of the unused tax (I have a destruction cert).

Has anyone gotten a refund without having the tax cert to return?

Have you asked them if they have the tax disk?

Could they use it to claim a refund for themselves, I wonder?

No I removed the tax cert but dumped it before I realized I needed it!

Just to follow up I spoke to the tax office and in the end I completed the form you normally complete for lost/destroyed certs (witnessed by Garda, but you dont have to pay the €6 for a replacement) along with the usual refund form and submit both to the motor office. Got the refund a week later😄
