I've been waiting for this since Metroid Prime 3 on the Wii.

Probably going to release on the Switch 2 as well, no doubt

About time!! That has to be the most exciting game announcement this year, even if it is a bit away. Would be very surprised if this isn't a Switch 2 release alright.

    Metroid Prime 4 Beyond: Intro

Not officially released, but it's a start.

I say it be around Christmas time shopping November or early December release time.

I meant the above trailer hasn't been officially released.

That trailer was officially released by Nintendo on May 9th on their Nintendo Today! app. That's where people have ripped it from and uploaded it to youtube.

That trailer is pretty light on gameplay, unless they are adding ship to ship/ ship to ground combat, which I wouldn't be opposed to as long as they don't Starfox Zero the heck out of it

Trying to remember, was the ship just used for travelling between planets/station in Prime 3?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,955 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Yes. There was no interactive function with the ship, as far as I remember.

Never has been, it's been a save point only, bearing in mind that, in it's 2D original title, it was a reskin (to some extent) of Legend of Zelda 2.

But… no reason why it couldn't be a thing, or maybe getting her hands on the mech-suit from the trailer.

Metroid Prime 4… chronologically, this is still set before Super Metroid, isn't it?

An interesting poster allegedly popped up on the London Underground…..

Forget the poster, who the hell built that wonky platform! 😂

Are we getting 2 & 3 any time soon? Just feels strange to have 1 & 4 …

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,955 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

No. There's no word on either of them. They really should have released before 4, they had more than ample time to do so.

Lots of previews out today, and they all have one thing in common: everyone **** hates Samus' new sidekick Myles.

I really hope there's some sort of twist here that becomes apparent later on, because this sounds like an insufferable addition to the formula.

Yup really worried about this chatty character and that it will be a repeated occurrence with all these Federation Troopers as Samus rescues them.

IGN, Nintendo Life, GameSpot, and more, all comment on how they disliked this aspect of their play time.

Ooof, this "chatty quippy NPC pal" stuff sounds almost as bad as Other M. And yes, even as someone who dislikes the boss-battle difficulty spikes, I was still hoping that MP4 might be good.

Add in the talk of escort missions (surely one of the most hated conceits in gaming) and I'll definitely be waiting on reviews before I even consider buying it...

Currently sitting on 80 on Metacritic.

Pros - graphics are gorgeous, music is excellent, biomes are great.

Cons - chatty (for part of the game), boring open world (pads the game out).

    15-20 hours long.

Yep. Going by online, it's the worst game ever and Nintendo are doomed. At least that's my understanding.

Digital Foundry more or said it's faultless on Switch 2. Runs brilliant on 60hz and 120hz. Also in dock mode the HDR is mind blowing. All the uproar about Miles McKenzie following you like a dog in the game is a non issue.

I read one review about this reviewer complaining the desert is pretty deserted. No sh*t Sherlock. That's why it's called a desert.

Anyways so looking forward to playing this Christmas day.
