Beware of Arnotts/Brown Thomas Gift Cards

My wife was gifted a voucher for €150 and when she went to use it online, she couldn’t as the pop up authorisation wouldn’t open fully on her iPad.
This morning, she tried on a PC and discovered that her gift card now had only €123 on it.
Customer Services told her that it was really a cash office query but the cash office wouldn’t answer the phone.
She rang the shop and asked for the cash office, who told her the balance was still €150 and assured her the IT department would call her.
No call came, so she rang again at 4pm only to be told that someone should have phoned her back.
Finally, a call from Holly at Customer Service at 4.27pm to say that €150 should be on the card but no explanation forthcoming over what happened.
It appears nobody knows what’s going on and customer service is a joke. The two ladies in the Cash Office tried their best to help, even though it was a Customer Service matter.
My wife is still waiting on a call, after a full day’s trading, from the IT Department in Arnotts to explain what happened to the vanishing cash.
Do they actually want the business or jobs in the first place?
    Buyer beware.

    yawn

There's €150 on it - why do you need to know the error? It has been rectified and was rectified within a few minutes. Possibly it wasn't even an issue on their end.

Value was €150, value is still €150. Get on with life.

btw - did she read the t&c's that state you must create an account first before you use the gift card?
