Bathtub Waste Replacement - Help!

In the first photo attached, you can see the waste/drain in my bathtub. I would like to replace it. I'm hoping it's as easy as replacing the waste for a sink/basin. When I look for bathtub drain/waste parts online, the waste and overflow seems to be one piece. I just want to swap out the bottom part without having to get in under/behind the bathtub. Here is my question; Is this possible for a DIYer?
