161 Audi A3 MMI

Need advice on how to use my phone (S23) through the MMI. I have it connected through bluetooth but can only make calls. Nothing else works. I can't get google maps or play music etc.. The only connections I have in the car is an audi music interface connection in the center console and a media player with two sd slots in the glove box.

Any help would be appreciated.

That sounds like the lowest version of the MMI unit, which means you will only be able to make calls and listen to music via the unit.

Apple Carplay or Android Auto aren't features of that MMI

You should be able to play music etc by pressing the media button while connected via bluetooth. Don't connect using MMI and Bluetooth use Bluetooth only.

Bit sickened sat nav doesn't work as it needs to be activated but only an Audi dealership can do that for a price of up to €1000. I only have the MIB1 system so cant even connect with android auto as it doesn't support it. Only figured this out last few days. It doesn't even have a usb connection but these features were advertied when I bought the car and when I rang the dealer I bought it from yesterday he said there was no comeback so I'm stuck with what I have.

If it was advertised as having certain features which subsequently turns out to be untrue and was bought from a business then you are definitely entitled to compensation of some sort. Citizens Advice or CCPC would give you solid advice on this.

if it’s a MIB1 system, an MIB2 upgrade with CarPlay would be the way to go.

It's not cheap though. I have a MIB1 system in my S3, and would like to upgrade, but don't think it's worth the money at the moment

what sort of money have you been quoted. I did MIB 1 to 2 swap on my Octavia around 5 years ago and it worked out around €700, but that didn’t have a motorised screen like the A3 has.

As Praetorian22 mentioned above, I got onto YourCarCoder late last year, and he priced up all the parts for it, and they were coming in at over 2k GBP!

New parts as far as I remember. I must look into it a bit further, there may be ways of using an aftermarket kit just to get CarPlay working
