New LG TV and Soundbar - low sound, WOW orchestra issue?

    Hello all,

I bought a https://euro.richersounds.ie/p-207988-lg-oled55b42la-new-2024-5-model-55-inch-oled-4k-ultra-hd-hdr-smart-tv-freeview-play-freesat.aspx   and LG USE6S Soundbar over the weekend and there is definitely an issue with the sound through the soundbar/Wow orchestra on some inputs. WOW orchestra is a new enough feature apparently whereby the sound is sent through both the TV speakers and the soundbar simultaneously to create a better surround sound. That is the theory anyways………in reality it is producing really low sound. Significantly worse that the TV speakers alone!!!!! I probably could have just saved myself 400 euro if I had just bought the TV :(

I spent 4 hours last night trying every possible set up on all inputs so that I could provide as much information as possible in the hope that someone might have a solution. Really appreciate any replies (and also direction to any other online forum that may specialise in Home Cinema set ups).

Here goes……I will list the input and the volume setting needed to get adequate sound

    Netflix app on TV -

    TV Speakers - 15

HDMI Arc Device only (soundbar) - 15 but the quality of sound is better than TV speakers only

WOW Orchestra (soundbar and TV speakers): same as above. However, despite showing as WOW orchestra no sound comes from TV speakers. It is still soundbar only………..

    Live TV (Saorview aerial), Firestick

    TV Speakers -10

HDMI Arc Device only (soundbar) - 50

WOW Orchestra: unlike Netflix sound does comes out both TV speakers as well as sound bar. However, it drops back to whatver TV speakers were set to (10) and has to be raised to 100 to get anything near useable.

    XBOX

    TV SPEAKERS - 10

WOW - 15 no option for HDMI Arc Device only on Gaming mode

So overall it has been a complete head wreck and very disappointing. I would have been better off just buying the TV it seems but I have the soundbar now so need to make it work.

It is not realistic to have to change sound settings every time we change input mode. And even with this if we change from one to another there will be a big change in volume.

Also, if i change volume on HDMI Arc Device only setting it will change but if I then switch to WOW orchestra it drops back to whatever the volume had been set to on TV speakers only.

Any advice really appreciated. I am looking into whether I can disable the WOW orchestra mode altogether and just send sound through soundbar. I am not sure this is possible and I fear the sound will still be worse on Live TV and Firestick than if we just used TV speakers alone.

for anyone who may experience similar I found a reasonable compromise

To go through soundbar only select HDMI e-arc only rather than Wow orchestra (combined with tv speakers)

Select Bass Blast as sound setting

    Apply to all inputs

Using sound bar app increase main speaker (I only have the soundbar ) sound to 6db

now it’s comparable to the tv speakers sound in terms of volume but quality of sound is better

Still disappointing but at least usable
