HI. I'll try and keep it to the point and apologises if asked before.

Myself and my Wife are now looking at starting a pension ( M52, W50 ) as we are entering I suppose the preparation stage of life now and out of the debt stage shortly. I know its late and pensions should be started early but we have been frugal last 20+ years and made a couple of good investments ( assets ).

Can anyone recommend a decent , honest , user friendly financial advisor/company in the Cork area as all I'm doing now is trying to pick one from the Web which may not be the best of ideas.

    Thanks

Well going with one recommended by a random individual from the internet is probably no better…. the reality is that most people who visit an advisor don't have the skills or the knowledge necessary to assess the advisor, unless it goes wrong of course!

What I would advise to not do is go with anyone who contacts you privately as a result of your post here. We have no way of knowing what goes on in private conversations and are not in a position to call out bad advice.

Realistically you have about a 10 year investment horizon so you are very much going to have to rely heavily on saving a significant amount of money each month and tax breaks in order to build up a pension fund. And save the tax break money as well!!!

That said, I very much agree with your intention to visit an advisor. You mention that you have a few assets so starting with a good financial plan is the way to go.

THanks for the response. I'm going to make a few enquiries this week.
