    Hi All

I have a 2019 508 SW GT. This was imported from the UK (NI)last year

I have checked the Peugeot.ie site for recalls and it says my vehicle is affected

    No other info is provided

Called a main dealer, gave the reg and VIN and they cant find the car due to it being an import and they are saying they want to charge me in order to get it on their system

They also won’t tell me what’s the issue other than there’s two things they need to fix

Why would they need to charge me?

Dealer doesnt know their arse from their elbow - if its a manufacturer recall and its coming up on the peugeot site then the dealer should be able to pull up the info as youve already proven that its affected by putting your VIN into the recall checker.

Honestly Id try a different dealer.

There should be no charge for a recall as long as its applicable to your vehicle.

It's very possible dealing with Peugeot Ireland regarding getting paid for work on a UK import involves more hassle and paperwork for the dealer so they are not keen and the reason was to encourage you to go elsewhere. Either that or they are saying in a roundabout way that you didn't buy an Irish Peugeot so sod off now. If they have plenty of work in their workshop then they can cherry pick their work.

    As said, try another dealer.

Talk to the manager and complain about it. It's unnaceptable.
Meanwhile you can try another dealer as others said.

To be honest I am not surprised…. Peugeot…

    thanks everyone

    Eventually Peugeot replaced the DPF

I collected it today however I’m getting a few engine errors on the dash.

engine fault: repair needed : adblue emissions and an emmissions fault: start impossible 1100km

is it a common fault after DPF replacements? I checked DPF, drove it abit and the error hasn’t gone

Im assuming it’s related, I haven’t had any issues, I’ve used the lubricant stuff before, a buddy did say there can be a few regen issues after replacing the dpf

Will Peugeot repair the issue as a consequence to the DPF being replaced

I'd be going straight back to the dealer who done it.

    Hey,

Thanks ya they were a little bit difficult to deal with

the cars not on warranty so they wanted 140€ just to run the diagnostics for the hour, despite the fact that the errors were coming on as I got home from the garage after they did the recall repair.

I learned they actually replaced the DFP and updated the ECU software so it could be related

I was fairly calm and politely asked the service dude to speak to his mgmt and just point out the fact that this came in with no errors and left with a few.

They have offered to take in for free next week for an hour or 2 however im just a little skeptical about it In terms of what they’ll do check and try to do without covering the cost

also another question is it whether it’s worth just getting the non start to reset and disconnecting the ad blue altogether?
I don’t think it’s broken but I know they can be problematic especially now the cars 5 years old
I know from others who owned Citroen, Renault and Peugeot that they were in to garages every second week with software issues and ad blue sensors / other senses

When you do anything on these Peugeots and OPels with the adblue system or emissions system you have to carry out whats called a "service bay reset" -A procedure that basically resets everything to factory - my bet is they didnt carry this out = just fitted the dpf and cleared the faults.

As for whether to remove the adblue - thats the first thing Id do with one of these - Ive a post somewhere here about a customer of mine had teh same issues - we could not fix the issues- even replacing the entire adblue system didnt fix it - eventually gave him the number of someone to delete the adblue system altogether and he hasnt looked back.

yeah, pretty much what I want to avoid.
I love the car, great engine 2.0 , low mileage and drives lovely so not ready to sell it on just yet. but I know how niggly the ad blue systems are.
Good to know regarding the reset. I might just have them do that instead of diagnosing stuff I don’t want them to fix.
im thinking the same tbh and to save hassle. I assume to counter switching it off just use a good fuel lubricant / cleaner now and again ya?

Always the way with Irish dealers when you didn't buy the car from them.

They fob you off and give awful customer service and make sure you don't

return to them for anything and make sure you tell others how awful they

are. One dealer I was looking after when I was in the car game had the policy

of if you didn't buy it from them, there was a 6 week lead time to get you

into the workshop for anything including a service. A complete ballbag the owner

    was.

Sometimes the higher ups in dealerships cant see the wood for the trees - They cant see the fact that if you look after someone they might come back to you to buy a car in the future. Stupid Old school mentality.

Myself - I took everything in the door - even Jap Imports when most dealers wouldnt touch them and I had a nice little customer base built up before the place closed with a lot of repeat service work. Look after your customers and they`ll come back to you is the way I was taught - none of this snobby crap that just because they didnt but the car from you , you dont look after them.

sorry to drag this up again, I never got the adblue system disconnected, I was driving around Dublin the last few days and I could tell the car missed a regen, a lot of short journeys and traffic Anyways got the Emissions Fault Starting Impossible in 1100km.
Does anyone know a mechanic in Galway who can do a service bay reset or get rid of the error ?
really don’t want to go back to Peugeot just to do reset it just so I can then disconnect the adblue system
