Trump/DOGE cuts funding for weather monitoring meaning less scientists working the data.

How will they blame this on Biden?

Here we go again. Trump threatening a 17% tarriff on all food from the EU.

The EU should put a 200% tariff on Boeing airplanes to shut the idiot up.

Somebody needs to put him back in his box.

Don't worry they'll just make something up. Facts don't really carry any weight with their supporters anyway.

I suspect now that the 90 deals in 90 days deadline is fast approaching (next week), he'll be threatening a lot of countries.

I think his goal is to threaten say 17%/50% etc… and settle on 10% and call it a win to the American Public. Yup, having a zero tariffs to 10% is considered a win…. Analysis in the US on Amazon have found that the made in China products (which account for over 60% of items) are now outpacing inflation in the US.

And with the Dollar on the slide, the Chinese are going to want more for their products. The weak dollar has made imports more expensive, which in turn has driven up prices for essentials like food, housing, and energy. But wages haven’t adjusted accordingly — creating a widening gap between income and expenses. So while a weaker dollar should theoretically boost exports and domestic production (which could lead to wage growth), the reality on the ground is that most workers are feeling squeezed, not supported.

I recall him being quoted as they'll be sending 10/12 letters a day, so by 7 days is 70-84 countries. I bet it'll be closer to 90

I don't think any of that matters in Trump's America to be honest. Congress is basically pointless now because all the GOP members will do is bend the knee to whatever Trump wants, displayed most recently by them passing this diabolical legislation. It's basically a monarchy now in all but name.

does anyone wonder why he never mentions the assassination attempt? It’s like he wants it forgotten about or not really looked into.

This from a man who remembers and acts on when someone may have publicly slighted him 10 years ago

Wait till TACO boy hears about this!

"Mexicans protest Americans moving into their neighborhoods."

The influx of Americans moving to Mexico is pushing housing prices up and forcing Mexicans out of some cities. CNN's Valeria León report

Horrific events happening right now in Texas. 23 girls are missing from a Christian camp. As others have said, the NWS has been decimated over the last 6 months with DOGE and other Trump cuts. And aside from that, his famous Bill passed this week once again rolled.back environmental protections and promoted the use of oil and coal, acts directly linked to more extreme weather events.

Every action by Trump in the last 9 years has been so demonstrably bad for American society, and the wider world. He is deserving of all the hate that is faced his way.

But if their parents were illegals initially and eventually became US citizens WHAT THEN????????? Does Trump envisage a cut off point?

How possible is it/was it for an illegal alien to become a citizen?

I had the exact same thought today as well. Seems very little reference to it, and it seems like a perfect analogy that could be used when he goes on one of his rants. Who knows, maybe he feels if he talks about it, it may give someone the idea for them to try it.

Well here comes the next drama bomb to dominate the news for a while…

July 5 (Reuters) - A day after asking his followers on X whether a new U.S. political party should be created, Elon Musk said on Saturday that the "America Party is formed.""By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it!" he said in a post on X."Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom."

Obviously don't see him having any impact beyond siphoning away republican votes if it's still around come 2026 elections…

Lol, good luck with that! Keep him out of mischief for a bit. And stretch Trump's vocabulary of insults.

The problem is a lot of opinion, and they are absolutely allowed to have their opinion, overwhelming practical fact. The article itself observes that there is a difference between what they think should be policy, and what is actually legal in practice, but a lot of the distinction is being lost between the two. Soldiers follow orders unless they are unlawful, which itself leads to the problem in the subtitle of the article. They want soldiers to have the “right” to refuse unlawful or immoral orders. The problem here is that they not only have a right, but a duty to refuse unlawful orders, so they are advocating for no change there, and what is “immoral” is extremely subjective and in effect comes down to agreeing with matters of policy. Not something soldiers on duty should be making decisions about.

There is also an important error in the article: “Yet if they do carry out unlawful orders, the fact that they were ‘just following orders’ is no defense in a criminal trial” is directly contradicted by the Manual for Courts Martial which says it is. If there is any doubt at all as to whether an order is lawful or not, then the soldier is expected to follow it and is protected if (s)he does, and not if (s)he doesn’t and guessed wrong. The military cannot realistically function any other way.

Great. Another party led by a complete prick.

    Just what America needs.

The only positive I could see is that it might dilute the right-wing vote, assuming that there are fair elections in the first place, which is looking less likely.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,446 ✭✭✭arctictree

I thought Elon isn't eligible to be President? So what's the point in him forming a party?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,341 ✭✭✭thatsdaft

if you read the article you would see some of those protesting are veterans not active duty personnel

But in Trumps worldview and opinion veterans are losers and are lower in status than **** stuck to the bottom of a boot

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,176 ✭✭✭✭aloyisious

Draw down on Trump supporters, have an alternative for U.S. industrialists to rally behind (closed-doors) & PAC-fund and thirdly irritate the **** out of Trump and his followers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,158 ✭✭✭yagan

Who does Elon envisage will follow his party?

All he did was turbo charge the Trump base.

Rfk is doing his best to cast doubt on the safety of vaccines even if it purs Americans are risk of measles and other diseases

Trump does not even know that shylock is uses a an antisemitic insult trump has hit the dollar so it's no longer the default currency for international traders he has pushed up debt by 4, trillion he seems to be on a quest to destroy the American economy and encourage people to buy digital currencys

Increasing us national debt plus weak dollars is formula for financial chaos all rich people will pay less tax so that sounds good of course by the time theres million of job loss,s caused by AI he ,ll be retired The democrats will have to try band clean up his mess
