    BIG NEWS -
Revocation letters have been issued by An Garda Siochana in Waterford, Carlow and Kilkenny this morning.

Firearms Licence Holders who have held their rifles for 9 years have this morning been his with revocation letters, revoking their semiautomatic rifles which were banned retroactively in July 2023.

The reason for the revocation will be recorded in PULSE as a "legislative amendment" and "will not impact future licencing".
How kind of the state and AGS to not penalise legal gun owners further applications/renewals for a legislative change...

The letters further state that the holders now have the options of either handing their rifles into AGS or into RFDs.

The RFD route for either alteration or sale(to no-one since they are now not licencable) or export.

What a fine democratic country we live in that a minister's statement, 9 years ago now(2015), can be used to retroactively bring in a law removing legally owned and onerously licenced inert objects from law abiding people.

Another sad day, for the law abiding people of Ireland.

I wonder how many illegally held, automatic and semi automatic, firearms have been smuggled into Ireland, since 2015 (while the law abiding licence holders who are now being penalised, did nothing wrong) ?

Hopefully, those impacted, have been able to club togeather, and agree terms with a firearms dealer, who will gather all impacted firearms, and try to sell them in bulk, to an appropriate dealer abroad.

Local Elections and European Elections are coming up in 2 weeks time, while National Elections are no more than a year away... Use your vote wisely, boys and girls, it's long past time that everyone stopped voting, based on old traditions !

    Thanks,

    G.

Didnt and won't happen By the time you have found a dealer who isnt a vulture and pays cents on the euro to the value of your gun. They have the problem of export costs per gun at about 400 Euros as the gun must be broken down into two packages @appx200 euros per parcel, and sell them where exactly ?Germany being the proable best option,no one is going to pay you Irish prices for a second-hand gun that is close to a NIB German gun.NI and the UK are out as is the USA,so your best bet is to do a conversion to MARS or SPBA here.
