Do Insurers require a car to be NCT’d for a new policy

    Hi All

    I have bought a second hand car which has no NCT at present

    I will also require a new Insurance policy as I let the last one lapse

    Is there companies that will insure it as it is whilst I try get an NCT/ date

    No they don't require it to obtain insurance however there could be an issue if you tried to make a claim, usually they will say the policy is null and void as the car wasn't in a road worthy condition.

    Some insurers require a valid NCT

    Some only require that the car is roadworthy

    Ah I see you're asking can u obtain the insurance without providing the cert, my bad

    Well my above answer pretty much applies anyhow

    If it's a policy condition that you must have an nct , you're policy will be invalid from the start and u risk cancellation in the event of a checkpoint or accident , simply not worth the risk

    Aviva afaik only require that a car is roadworthy

    NCT ... How do I deal with a car with expired test disc since 2021 ? Will they hang me?

    I ve had valid tax, insurance.. car was being used off-road, on private estate roads, moving horses around.

    Will who hang you? If the car has no NCT then your supposed to get it transported to the NCT centre but me personally I would just drive it there.
