Given the other thread is closed lets capture Maynooth related topics here.

I see the swimming pool has been approved and the pool in the university will be redeveloped. Anyone know exactly where that is?

    Nice work

It's in St Patrick's College, one of the buildings down the left hand side as you're looking in from the Main St entrance

I have suspicions that a councillor has run a little ahead of reality here; and that funding has not yet been approved nor the access issues entirely sorted.

I did wonder that, as the first announcement I saw felt a lot more "preliminary"

Why would a councillor race to make a video claiming the credit for a big project just before an election though?! 🤣

This is the current only entrance. I see that they have stopped vehicles going up, but its still rather sub-par. Only so much you can do to a 120 year old building.

Its the second oldest if not now the oldest indoor pool in the country; the one that was older may be gone.

Thanks all, walked past there many a time and had no idea there was a swimming pool there. Hopefully it does truly happen now

Does anyone know if there will be a road outside the new school near Moyglare Hall, there is a roundabout that goes nowhere near the main gate. Also is there a huge housing estate planned near the new school near Moyglare?

Correct, out the Meath side of the border. There is meant to be a road upgrade too. On the road linking over to the Dunboyne road.

I think the roundabout is part of the "ring road", they just haven't done anything on the section of ring road that would make a difference to traffic - motorway to college.

That is a crazy amount of development. Is there a list of all amenities being built? I can see a hotel, hospital and creche mentioned. But I dont see an obvious school mentioned. With that many residential units and the schools in Maynooth already at capacity, it will cause chaos.

An Bord Pleanala has refused permission for the redevelopment of Greenfield Shopping Centre.

Shame about the other thread, mods should open it back up.

I ordered a delivery from Lana Thai there one Saturday at 8:30pm and I couldn't believe that about 8 minutes later it arrived. I had to ask him to confirm it was me and not a housemate. No idea how it arrived that quick.

The land beside Tesco, must be preparing to go to market for residential buildings I'd assume.

Serious traffic yesterday morning due to the bike race. It could have been flagged a bit better to be fair. Nice event though.

Any further developments need to be subject to proper traffic plans being put in place. The congestion will only continue to get worse. Its excrutiating at times.

Anyone have opinions on best bin collection plan in Maynooth? BNM are back to normal charges after battling with Thorntons and others before the summer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 74,532 ✭✭✭✭L1011

Allied were cheapest for me, and Thorntons matched them and I couldn't be arsed with the hassle of trying to tell Thorntons that their bin recovery fee charge isn't in the contract I signed a decade plus ago etc etc… so I stuck with Thorntons.

Give Allied a shout anyway, then see if whoever you're with will match.

I switched to Greyhound in January, good bit cheaper and no issues with their service.

Took a 6 month standoff with Thorntons before they'd take back their bins without charging me €45 for the privilege

Paying about €20/month unlimited lifts (within weight limit) and annual charge about half of Thorntons.

ThoThorntons apparently will match if you threaten to leave, and get very, very annoyed if you switch without letting them try match

Thorntons don’t have an annual sub on the monthly charge plan

I had been on their pay per lift plan, but every year the annual service charge and lift charge went up.

Greyhounds offer of monthly charge had an annual charge roughly half of Thorntons, and when added together their monthly charge was less than 1 lift of each colour bin by Thorntons
