Sako .223 bullets for foxes????

Is there much difference in the Sako Gamehead soft point and the Gamehead varment ballistic tip?

The soft point is in around €26 and the varment are around the €45 mark.

So my question is what is the difference in the two rounds for the nearly double in the price range of one over the other.

I'll be using them for foxes, shots no further than 200/250m range, and probably vast majority in the 100s range.

Any opinions on the fiocchi 55g EPN??

Seem good value, around €57 for 50

    Thanks all for any advice.

I have a Tikka T3X .223, and all the above work great for me. To keep the cost down on my foxing setup, I do use the fiocchi solely now. Im probably shoot 200 and under but mainly its 75-150 and its never has an issue using them. I'm not the most technical rifle shooter but they group tight on paper at 100 yards and I have a shot a few boxes now and never had issues with the Fiochhi round.

You must ask yourself "Will the fox know the difference"

The Fiochi shot well in my CZ 527 223. And the American Eagle BTHP 55gr was as accurate as the AMax and VShok. €16 a box when I last bought them. 😯

Can't recommend the fiocchi 55g enough, My Cogswell shoots very well with them, Great value for a box of 50

Have got to agree with the guys. You can buy 50 Fiocchi EPN rounds for €55 and they're ultra accurate, massive stopping power for foxes. I don't see why anyone would want to spend €26.50 for 20 game heads, I'm sure they're great but for <200 m you don't need the "premium" bullets. Not sure if I can say who's selling the bullets for those prices but it sounds a lot like mildmunter in Athlone ;).

all of the above works well in my 223 in the 50 and 55 grain weight, for distances out to 200 yards I don’t think you will see much difference in the cheap or expensive bullet, however check your barrell twist rate and more importantly check your backstop; using the ballistic tips these will usually pass straight through the relatively slim fox whereas the soft points can but generally will not
