Blueface pulling out of Ireland

Got an email from Blueface saying that they are leaving the Irish VOIP market.

I have been with them for my VOIP/01 number since their €199 offer in 2010 which was supposed to last for life.

Whose life? although I am not complaining as their service has been very good.

Most Irish VOIP providers seem to only do business lines.

Does anyone know what providers are left to port my only 01 number to ?

I use my mobile for outgoing calls

I ported my landline to irishvoip.com a few years ago. No complaints with the service. Costs €25 for the year. It covers receiving calls & they have a payg service for outgoing calls if you need it.

Hey, good to see a thread here about this.

I've been with them years for my 01 number, it gets routed to my mobile seamlessly and automatically so there's no sign that the call is being diverted to the caller. It's about €20 base fee per month and then per minute charges for each call received on top I think.

Does anyone else use a similar set up and have found a reliable and affordable alternative?

Nuacom have a minimum of 2 users.

Anyone got any first hand experience from porting a single (residential) Blueface number to somewhere else? Looks like many of the providers in the market are only interested in business accounts.

I develop Superior Solitaire when I'm not procrastinating on boards.ie.

Like most here I am still with Blueface for the last 14 years.
I would like to port my number, but most people get me on my mobile anyway.

jgbyr's deal of €25pa with irishvoip.com seems about the best eg. hassle vs cost.

https://zadarma.com/en/tariffs/numbers/ireland/ Seems Landline number costs €36/Year

    https://goldfish.ie/pricing/ €60 pa

    https://www.voipline.ie/sip-trunking
    PAYG Starter - No International €0.00 Monthly 1 €0.00
    User Licence €2.60 Monthly 1 €2.60
    Outbound SMS plan €0.00 Monthly 1 €0.00
    Device Licence €1.95 Monthly 1 €1.95
    Inbound DID (3531 - Ireland, Dublin) €2.40 Monthly 1 €2.40
Has a free 1 month trial
    €83.40/Year
I set this up on my gigaset and it seems to work fine.

    https://www.multitel.net/pricing/inbound_outbound $12/year

    https://in2tel.ie/pricing/phone-numbers/ €131/year

    https://www.twilio.com $19.20/year
only seem to have Balbriggan numbers in Dublin
I set this up on my Gigaset and it shows registered with an american number but it doesn't ring.

    https://byphone.ie/ €83.88pa

    €56.37p.a.

    Thanks a lot @maurice1 !

Would you have any idea which of those may work for my use case, where I just have a 01 number for show, and when somebody rings that, it rings my mobile immediately. There's no porting etc, it's set up with Blueface in a way that the callers ID comes through to my mobile, it's not like a I see a VOIP ID every time.

With Blueface it was costing about €20 a month for this.

    Hi Cormie,

I was on the 2010 deal with Blueface where 1 paid €200 for free calls for life so I didn't pay Blueface per month.

jgbyr's deal of €25pa with irishvoip.com, which is now €36.50 p.a. I presume that you need something like that with call forwarding.

I am trying Twilio but it seems very complicated !

    Hi Cormie,

I tried Twillio with little success but I also tried multitel.net and I now have a Dublin 01 number working.

They do call forwarding in their settings and the dashboard includes the option for forwarding the callerID too. I haven't tried it.

Like Twillio it is not as intuitive as Blueface but CS has been excellent. It took me a couple of emails to get up and running.

    Porting is $10

As you can see it is reasonably priced. Server is in Frankfurt and I don't notice much latency.

Irish mobiles seem to be included in local call price.

Hope this gives you some ideas.

Thanks a lot for that! I'll have a look into it, but that seems like it will work out a lot cheaper than Blueface so let's see how it goes :)

    Hi Cormie

I have exactly the same situation/requirements as you, I was wondering did you get sorted?

    Thanks

Not yet, it's on the long finger at the mo! Better get moving soon! Have a look at the posts above, some good suggestions if they work :)

    FYI

Moved my Blueface 01 number to Multitel.net and everything working as expected on my gigaset. It took 3 working days to actually move.

Multitel like Twillio etc now have loads of rules for ID checks due to Comreg requirements so as only Irish addresses can get a local number. This did take a while to get setup, so give yourself time.

Multitel UI can do loads that I don't understand but call forwarding and emailed voicemail work fine.

Been testing for a week and no probs.

Although Blueface was free calls for life, hard to beat pricewise!

I think Multitel does offer good value for money @ $1/month & <1c / minute

I haven't noticed latency even though the server is in Frankfurt.

I have no relationship with Multitel at all, but I found Dan in CS very helpful, mind you the bar is low after dealing with Voda, Eir & Sky CS !

Hope this helps, but it does take time.

Trying to sign up with Multitel now and not off to the best of starts:

    1) The verification link in the email didn't work, I had to click the image in the email
    2) The verification page I believe should be NUMBER > SEND SMS > ENTER VERIFICAITON CODE > VERIFY PHONE NUMBER, as opposed to what it currently is NUMBER > ENTER VERIFICATION CODE > SEND SMS > VERIFY PHONE NUMBER.
    3) Displayed beneath this is "Message did not arrive? for a manual account verification." This doesn't make sense and there's no call to action.
    4) After presseing "SEND SMS" It said success verification text sent, but I never got it - tried multiple times
    5) Not easy to find out how to contact support, seemed I had to create a ticket and include destination and source numbers to send it, none of which applied in my case.
    6) I then see you can verify your ID by uploading a photo of driving license, it said the verification was successful, and then a warning message popped up after this saying my name on my account doesn't match my name on my ID so verification wasn't successful (after it just telling me it was, and my name is the exact same).

This is all in the first 5 minutes of signing up, let's hope things get better as I can't proceed until the above is sorted.

EDIT: Dan replied to my ticket within about 5 minutes!

Incidentally, Multitel didn't charge me the $10 for porting.

Dan is great for getting back and if you tell him what you need he seemed to take care of the settings for me, but it does take time.

I have been using goldfish.ie for several years and I think they are great. We just use it for 01 "landline" numbers and it's quite inexpensive for what we use. €5 per month plus calls. There is lots of other functionality available that we don't need but it might meet the requirements that some have mentioned here. Customer service is efficient and helpful too. A guy in Ireland who knows what he is about.

How have you been getting on with Multitel?

I've been ported but having some issues:

I've tested the number and it appears to be working now, however, having tried from multiple phones, there doesn't seem to be any dial tone at all when calling?

Also, when trying to call again, it didn't connect at all, just cut the call immediately without it connecting and the caller ID showing on my phone.

I'm waiting for Dan to look into it!

Sorry Cormie for the late reply, I was away.

So far I have found them great.

I am still using the Siemens Gigaset A58IP which Blueface supplied in 2010.

The calls come in and go out the same as Blueface.

Hope fully Dan will have sorted you out by now

I’ve been using them for a number of years also, never had any problems.
