Salary scale when moving departmenta with the same grade in open competition (Civil Service)

    Hi all!

I have a question about the salary scale in the civil service.

I have been an Administrative Officer for a year, recently receiving my letter that I have passed probation and moving to the second point in the salary scale.

However, I have been successful in a recent specialist AO competition and want to change roles as it is an area of interest for me.

That was an open competition. The question is if I will be able to keep the second point in the AO salary scale or if there's any caveat in this situation for having gone for the same grade through an open competition.

Thank you in advance, I've tried to clarify it and couldn't find information specifically for this situation.

Yes you would keep your point on the scale this should happen when you inform HR your transfering from another department. There is a section you fill out on the assignment paper work if you are existing staff or have previous service.

You keep your point on the scale and your original increment date, as long as you no break in service between the roles.

Thank you! I was pretty sure about that but couldn't find information for that situation.

Similar situation, moved same grade from IT to general services. Open competition, made sign a new contract from oct to oct 24 established civil servant but had to do probation. My question is around increments, when does my next increment happen, is it 1 year after my start on the new contract or the date i started in the role originally. Either October or Januar.

    Any help appreciated

Your increment lands on the date you originally started in the civil service at that grade.
