You could try getting a replacement stereo from a breakers. If you’re in Dublin, Summerhill Spares is a good place to try.

Take it out of the dash and get it looked at by someone who knows what they're at. It could be a simple mechanical issue or something more complicated.

Any suggestions on who is going to repair a car CD player in this day and age and how much they would charge for their time? You’d be better off just getting one from a scrapyard for €20

You would seriously struggle to find someone capable of doing a repair; and it will cost you 75-200 €/hr.

    Replace it.

All joking aside, have you tried blowing into it? A bit of dust/dirt might have gotten onto the lens.

You just don't repair these type of devices these days, you just replace it. I'm sure there are plenty of these in scrap yards.
