Split year relief - should my accountant have applied for it last year?

I left Ireland to work in the UK in April 2023. I now find I may be liable for a 15k tax bill as Revenue are taxing both my Irish income, PAYE and rental, as well as taxing my UK PAYE income at 40%. though it has already been taxed in the UK. My accountant never mentioned last year about split year relief. I am resident in the UK this year, so qualify in that respect. My accountant never informed me until now that I should have applied for this relief. Is there any other solution to this.
