Travelled to Puglia this week and thought I would share some info.We flew into Brindisi which is the best airport for this region although Bari would work as well,We based ourselves in Lecce which is a beautiful Baroque town with magnificent historical centre.Downside not on the coast,I am no longer comfortable driving so used trains to visit the recommended places of interest and worked really well,We visited Monopoli - really nice probably our favourite,Gallipoli, nice but like Ortiga in Sicily and not as nice and Pollignano De Mare which is worth a look but the centre is quite small. We missed out on Matera and Otranto and the Trulli houses and more but we will be back,Would not like to be here in peak though, the trains and small centres must be over run,Great in May though.PS the train to Ostuni seems to leave you 10 kms from town so be sure to check out before going there.

Just back, I really liked Lecce, and Monopoli, very impressive old town centres.

Disappointed in the beaches, the public beaches were generally small and very crowded, and the loungers at the Lidos were 20-45e for a double.

The amount of litter outside the town centres and on the roads was appalling.
