Anyone with experience of 2014 Jag XF?

    Hi folks,

I am thinking of replacing my current pre-facelift 2013 EClass with a 2014 XF Sportbrake.

Anyone with any actual experience of the 2.2 diesel Jaguars?

I had a 2016 model which broke my heart and left me broke when the 2.0 diesel Ingenium engine ate itself.

However, the earlier car is supposed to be better, and the engine far less likely to cause trouble.

    So, advice would be appreciated

Why would you go back to Jaguar after such a bad experience? I know the 2.2 is better than the 2.0 but you are still buying a 10 year old luxury car. Its not going to be cheap to run and probably won’t be that reliable. And to top it off its going to be even older than the one that broke your heart.

Would you not consider a reliable alternative such as the Lexus IS?

I do know know of someone who went from an E class to a 2014 Xf and regretted it

The 2.2 lump in the 2014 car is far better than the 2.0 more modern engine in the later car.

And not a thing was wrong with the 2016 XF bar the engine turning into a paperweight.

That 2.2 litre is a Ford Duratorque engine found in the likes of the Mondeo, Transit and Land Rovers at the time. While it might be better than the LRJ Ingenium engine, I don't think they were known to be a rock of reliability either.

To be honest bazz26, the Ford 2.2 is a gem compared to the utter mank that is the 2.0 Ingenium.

Those things are failing in every vehicle they were stuffed into, Jaguar and Landrovers both, not to mention the GMs

Would you not consider a Merc E Class? The 2.1 litre CDI engine is a less riskier affair.

Or could you stretch to a BMW 530d? I'm on my second BMW with the N57 engine and neither have given me a day's trouble. Currently one is 7 years old.

I'm in an EClass w212, E220, pre facelift.

And, I mean, it's grand... and bland

But, never mind, I'll keep my eyes open, see what's out there

Would you not consider the newer model E Class? It would be a decent upgrade.
