Is there training / Certification that would benefit an Executive Officer in the civil service.

I was thinking of a Project Management course that could be done remotely that would lead to a decent certification?

    Any other recommendations greatly appreciated.

The most widely accepted PM qualification in ireland is PMP, project management professional, which is only a 4 day course but with 5+ years of relevant work experience and an exam. It's popular mainly because it's US based therefore accepted by US comapnaies and good for managing software / engineering projects.

Otherwise if you have more time and money both UL and UCD run well recognised Masters.

Yes, a Project Management course is an excellent choice for a Civil Service Executive Officer—especially one that offers certifications like PMP (Project Management Professional), PRINCE2, or CAPM. These are well-recognized and can be done online through platforms like Coursera, edX, or PMI. They strengthen planning, execution, and leadership skills—crucial for managing government projects. Additionally, consider certifications in Public Policy, Data Analytics, or Digital Transformation, which are highly relevant in the evolving civil sector.
