PAYE & Sole trader

    HI.

While I've seen that being an employee ( paye ) and a sole trader ( income tax) at the same time is perfectly OK, my question is would it be acceptable to be in this situation with the same employer?

For example, if my employer was able to offer extra price work outside of normal paye hours and I felt I could get it done and bill them as a registered trader, any problems with this if both parties were willing.

    Thanks
