Laptop recommendation.

Hello.

I am looking for a recommendation for new gaming laptop, to allow to to play games such as balders gate. And to slightly future proof if possible given below budget.

I'm looking to spend 800- 1000. The only real thing is an SSD which prob come as standard these days. Could also have a HDD?

No allegiance to any manufacturer, processor, etc.

hdd are 2 slow all newish ones have gen 4 ssds nvmes

of the newer ones if you could get one with a 4060

you might not get the best ones in that pricerange

there are and there not ones id recommend anyone to buy tbh . the cheap msi and gigabyte ones etc

you need to go direct to the like of lenovo site when there on sale and buy them then . ive a 4070 but mainly use it to run scripts , video stuff etc atm / might get back into some games soon

if you add a 4060 and at least 16gb of ram in the options you go to 1100-1200 and there a much better option for your budget

was chatting to a friend who said stick with lenovo, and also ignore those msi options on laptops direct.

how would the i5 compare with the ryzen 7?

yes id agree with him -

the 12th gen i5 is older and not as fast than the ryzen 7 in the options i posted

id go intel if its the age and specs are the same but there not here ryzen tend to be better for battery life . if thats an issue . the screens tend to be better on the intel versions , i can remember here if there is a difference

My personal choice is always between Dell and Lenovo, configuration etc.. depending on requirements.

It's possible. However such choices are very personal. Everyone has very different requirements.

And certain things bother me today. Like only two USB ports sometimes, no chip card reader for digital camera chips, also the absence of a DVD drive is something I am increasingly missing.

But again, it's very personal.

went ahead and ordered the ryzen 7 lenovo. came to €1350 in the end.

looks a nice machine and if you compare it to the price youd pay here . your saving a lot

the Loqs are a cheaper gaming set up but have a lot of the options that are on the top grade machines
