    What can I do with horrible kitchen floor tiles to improve them without costing the earth or removing them. All suggestions welcome.

    are they smooth ?
    you could put vinyl flooring over them.

    Other than that if they aren’t smooth then not much you can do bar ripping them up I’d say.

    Tile over them, put vinyl over them or paint them.

    If they are flat, you can also put laminate flooring over them
