I have just bought the Lidl BBQ (it was a real headache to assemble)

However, the regulator is different from the one on my old BBQ.

Is it ok for me to switch the old regulator on to the Lidl one?

    Pictures attached.

There are different regulators for the different gas bottles depending on butane or propane as they operate at different pressures.

It should be fine to switch them for your BBQ ( i have one of each type since in summer you often have to take whatever cylinder you can get)

Gennerally BBQs and Patio heaters come with propane regulators like your new one. For some reason in Ireland, Butane is more commonly available and butane needs a different regulator.

You should change your [butane] regulator once a year

I change mine every year, I flip from butane to propane and then back again the next year…does that count? :D
