I'd like to select 2 people from my gedcom file (4th cousins) and have their direct ancestry graphically displayed back to their common ancestor.

Is there a way to do this?

You'd have to manually create it.

I'm not aware of any particular software that will automate it.

Thanks. I've done it manually, but was hoping for a more elegant solution.

I run a large family tree and it's nice to show new members how they're related to me.

You can do a version of it in Ancestry's built-in tree, but you have to add everyone in the chain in.

DNA painter can be used to make a small tree to display connections https://dnapainter.com/tools/probability

Thanks, but I might as well do it by hand then.

Will that work for me if I pick 2 people from my gedcom file? ie show me their relationship and possibly the intervening links.
