Looking for some confirmation regarding getting a car back on Irish plates.

Originally an Irish car, registered in NI about 10 years ago, the VRT was never reclaimed so hoping there's a straightforward process to get the car back on Irish plates.

Never got time today to ring Dept of Transport on Shannon so hoping someone here knows the process.

It's the same process as importing any car afaik. You make a VRT appointment and present the car. It should be on the VRO system that the car was originally on Irish plates so no VRT should be due if it were never refunded on export. Just make sure you have the car's V5 logbook.

You will get the original registration number back, which is nice imo.
