Sewage Tank Emptying Connemara

We currently need our septic tank to be emptied (pretty urgently actually- my fault for not spotting) and are calling around the usuals Barna Recycling and Wers Waste. Wers don't come out as far as us (we're about 10km outside of their boundary) and Barna Waste have a wait time of a month according to them this morning. He said to call back in 2-3 weeks, which was odd.

I spoke with Wers after Barna and they said they think Barna might be getting out of septic tanks services entirely.

So question - are they the only 2 in Galway? If Barna are actually then gone, is there any other way to get a tank emptied?

Called Barna again to check and they're not doing it currently and will know more in June. That leaves us in a bit of a pickle.

I don't know how far out into Connemara they will come but Michael Haverty and his son definitely will go that side of the Corrib even though they're based in Dunmore.

Do Septic tanks need to be emptied always? For example growing up I never remember once the tank being emptied so am wondering is it something that should be done periodically or does it depend?

Yes, it should be done every could of years. There are a lot of neglected septic tanks!

The septic tank inspections that we were all supposed to register for back in 2012 never happened.

I'd say a lot of people including the guy next door to me are hoping they never will.

True - no inspections, and you can only get a grant if you fail an inspection.
