A friend is looking at a 5 year old Audi.

It's an Irish car from new. History check says all clear but car has never been tested.

I find it very odd. It's for sale at a main dealer with one owner but history check said it only recently left last owner and is taxed right up to date so it's not like it's been on a forecourt for a year.

It's also taxed for private use.

    It's abit of a puzzle.

Do psv vehicles get nct or doe?

There was a huge backlog for NCT’s a year ago which probably explains it. And I think it’s fairly common for people to go over the 4 year mark because you don’t have an expired disc in the window reminding you that your NCT is due.

Its a non issue IMO as long as it comes with a new NCT, although it will probably be backdated a year.

    That might explain it.

It's at an Audi dealer and approved used and its a 40k plus car still. Just an odd situation.

    Coming with new test.

Lots of people don't bother with nct . See lots of cars with out of date discs I be more bothered by service history. They would sell in trade if anything not right with car

But that new test will only be valid for one year.

It's 12 months overdue for the test.

Best to wait till it's 21 months overdue and get a 27 month test so
