I've recently put my home brought on affordable housing scheme on market and agave gone sale agreed . I have received clawback figure from council and its quite significant as received a pretty good discount. There is one thing I'm confused about though I had house 17 years but had rented it out for a period I had spoken to council and told them my intent but nothing in writing. In calculating the clawback they have allowed the discount for 7 years as I originally thought I was allowed it. But reading posts here I see it should have Been frozen for rental period or is this the case just wondering if anyone that has Bern in similar situation could shed some light on this

Congratulations on the sale agreed, hope it goes/went smoothly for you.

Can you share please how the council calculated the clawback? (Dont have to use your personal details, just as an example).

I'm in a similar position, looking to sell mine after 17 years, self occupied all that time. I think the sell price would be more that my original purchase price, but less that the market value in 2007.

how soon into your sale process did the council get involved and give you the clawback figure? It's a big undertaking to get solicitors and estate agents and buyers involved without knowing that number.

were the council helpful? some posts here made it sound like they don't remember themselves the details of the AHS.

hope you got an answer on your rental question, sorry I cant help there.

    thank you.
