Executive Officer Pay

Hello there, I will be moving to an Executive Officer at the end of May. I have been a CO for 2 years. My two year anniversary as CO is the start of May. It really has been a struggle financially for the last two years just to keep on top of bills etc as it has been for lots of people. My question is will I start the EO role at the first point on the EO scale? I am just trying to work out a budget for the coming year as I want to avoid getting into financial difficulties again.

Yes you will go to point one of the scale.

Making the jump to EO asap in your CS career is the optimum approach and will invariably make things a little easier for you.

As above, you're moving to point one on the EO scale and your date of promotion becomes your new increment date.

I'm on point 6 of the CO scale and have recently been promoted. Anyone know where this leaves me on the EO scale please?

think point 1 as point 6 in CO is still lower than point 1 in EO, I stand corrected

Point 6 of the CO scale is €660.90 per week. That's €34,366.80 per year.

Point 1 of the EO scale is €35,687 and point 2 is €37,589. Because the difference between current pay and point 1 of the EO scale is less than the difference between point 1 and point 2 of the EO scale, you start on point 2 as far as I understand the circular from a few years ago.

Just on the calculations aspect, point 6 on CO scale is actually multiplied by 52.18 to give gross annual salary = €34,485.76

An EO salary paid on a fortnightly basis is similarly multiplied by 26.09

Remember too you'll also be due to jump an increment, which you'd have benefitted from at point 8 on the CO scale.

Sorry how does that work exactly? I'll be point 6 CO on the 24th and starting in the DCEDIY on the 26th. 1% pay rise on June the 1st. No idea what I'll get paid presumably the 6th of June haha!

The circular is quite clear...you need to follow up with NSSO HR on the online portal...make a complaint if necessary and attach the pay circular. I had to do just that to get my pay and annual leave corrected. Don't rely on HR staff's word as gospel. Lot of them are new hires themselves.

Thanks. That's good advice. I'll get on to NSSO. It doesn't feel right that I would have to wait until May next year to be on Point 2 of the payscale!

Definitely get in contact with HR about it.
I was in the same situation last year - point 6 of the CO when promoted to EO. I actually wasn’t aware of the circular and contacted NSSO thinking it was an error and they responded that I am entitled to start at point 2

I think the error for me might be that I was just on point 6 on the 24th. I started in my new role on the 26th. That might be where the confusion is!

Just wanted to thank the people here. I probably would have left it if yous didn't advise me differently. Paid off literally in the end!
