Filling old flower bed with stone

    Evening,

I've a strip of an old flower bed which I've cleaned out. It runs along the driveway, with a dividing wall on the far side. I've managed to get it to about 1.5-2" below the driveway level and I'm hoping to fill it with stone. Can I just put a roll of weed block sheeting down and then put the stones on top?

It's a temporary measure until we get the drive done in the next 12-18 months. Driveway is quite narrow, don't want passengers entering/exiting car through the muck, hence the stone.

    Will use something like this
