VW approved used car warranty exclusions

    Hello all,

Trying to help a friend who bought a approved used id3 from a vw main dealer and car still has approved used warranty.

He had one of the led headlights stopped working(without any damage/accident) and dealer said to him that it is not covered. He is told that he most likley needs to pay 1500 euro to buy a new one. Dealer said they will double check before concluding it but my friend was pretty upset with outcome.

I asked him to check the paperwork about approved used warranty to see if headlights are listed as exclusions which is very weird for me for sealed units unless car involves an accident and unit is damaged.

I found UK coverage of warranty online(not mentioning headlights as exclusion) but not Irish one.

Does anyone know about exclusions for vw approved used warranty for Ireland or changed a headlight under vw approved used warranty before ?

Maybe contact VW Ireland and request the warranty documents?

Also, your friend doesn’t have to pay €1500. You can buy a second hand headlight for around €300 and have it fitted by a mechanic or bodyshop.
