I used to have a 2019 1.8 hybrid Corolla Saloon.

Used Fuelly to track my usage.

    Total miles tracked - 58,735

    Total average mpg - 61.3

    Best tankful - 73.2

Usually filled up after 400 - 500 miles traveled per tankful.

We have two Corollas in the household: A Saloon 1.8 2019 and a TS 2024.

The Saloon is always between 56 to 62 mpg.
The TS is new, so far the average is 46 mpg but I just drove 700km so far. I expect some improvements.

2022, 1.8 petrol hybrid estate. 4,9l in winter and around 4,3-4,5l in the summer. Could be better I guess but I have a habit to drive with B until enginie reaches temp. then changing to D.

It's a Corolla so it's probably as safe as you can get in car terms. It's not a panzer tank so I'd doubt very much that fuel economy will bankrupt any owner.

i think your question has been answered , its not going to be as frugal on long runs as a diesel

I’d say that’s right. Slightly worse mpg on motorways and better in slower driving compared to diesel with better reliability and lower maintenance costs. Better air quality for your neighbourhood too.
