Rear tyre outside wear

I have one rear tyre which is wearing noticeably on its outside edge. Is this down to alignment or tracking? I always thought this was a concern with front tyres only as they are associated with steering whereby rear tyres are 'fixed' in place. Can it be corrected?

all depends on the car, most newer cars need a 4 wheel alignment, castor angle adjustment on the rear is common

Could be a Suspension issue causing camber angle to change, could just be from taking corners fast and all the cars weight on the outer tyre.

Rear tyres are "fixed" in place meaning that most cars don't have any camber adjustment on suspension arms. So if camber is out it means a bush or something has worn causing play and movement at the wheel.

Castor doesn't affect tyre wear, it's got to do with the wheel and where the steering pivots, and a FWD car doesn't have rear castor

    What year is the car?
